Roadworks and access to Riverside
We have heard from Essex County Council about changes to road access for Riverside Leisure Centre during the Easter holiday period, which may affect your journey.
Roadworks and access to Riverside.
From Monday 3 April 2023, essential road maintenance will be taking place on Victoria Road which will affect access to Riverside Leisure Centre car park.
The work will last around 10 days, with re-opening expected around Saturday 15 April, meaning that changes are in place during the Easter holiday period.
The bridge on Victoria Road will be closed from Monday 3 April and will remain closed for the duration of the works. This means that, during this time, there will be no access to the centre via Springfield Road, and diversions will be in place.
Evening work to the road surface along Victoria Road from the bridge to the police station will be from 7pm on Monday 3 to Tuesday 4 April and Monday 10 to Saturday 15 April. During the day on these dates, there will be controlled access into Victoria Road and Riverside car park, which may cause some delays and disruption.
The Easter holidays is a busy period for the centre, with our both our Easter kids’ courses and our annual ice show running, alongside regular customer usage, so please make sure to plan your journey before you travel and expect delays.
We recommend that you allow plenty of extra time for your journey and parking at the centre before your session, as you may need to follow some diversions.
Customer parking
For ease, we recommend that from 7pm on Monday 3 to Tuesday 4 April and Monday 10 to Saturday 15 April, customers use the Waterloo Lane entrance to access our main car park via the Undercroft. Please be aware that due to the parking restrictions caused by the roadworks, there will not be any reserved member parking during this time.
The nearest alternative pay and display car parks are:
Member permits aren't valid here and normal parking conditions apply. For more information about our car parks please visit www.chelmsford.gov.uk/car-parks.
We thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you at the centre soon.
