Townlink
Our Townlink system links retail security officers in the city centre with our CCTV Control Room. It features a two-way radio system to connect local businesses in real time, to help when an incident occurs.
It includes daytime retail units in the city centre and surrounding areas, as well as all three shopping centres. In partnership with the CCTV network, it covers from Anglia Ruskin University all the way to Moulsham Street via the High Street and side roads.
The service is a valuable addition to the security set-up for any retail unit. It can help deter criminal activity and improves the safety of everyone who visits, lives and works in Chelmsford. It is a great tool for information-sharing between organisations, and can also provide a peace of mind for the community.
How it works
Our CCTV Control Room manages the scheme and the radio airwave on which it operates. We are also in direct contact with Essex Police, via their own radio network, and can patch CCTV images directly to them. This allows their Control Room operator to direct the appropriate dispatch of police units.
We hire the handsets from a company called DCRS, who manage all hire contracts and payments.
