Core classes
Core group exercise classes at Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre will tone and strengthen your abs, back and bum, improving your posture and helping with back pain.
Our instructors will guide beginners and challenge experienced class-goers.

Core stability
If you want a workout to strengthen your core while you improve your balance and posture, then a Core Stability group exercise class is the one for you.
You will do a variety of strengthening exercises with stability balls, and your own body weight to focus on your stomach, lower back and bum.
This is a 30-minute session and is a low intensity workout.
Express abs
Our Express Abs group exercise class is a quick 30 minutes of exercises that will strengthen the muscles around your abs.
Not only will you tighten that six pack, but you will also help to ease back pain, and improve posture.
We will provide all equipment used in the class, but if you would like to bring your own mat feel free.
This class will last for 30 minutes and is a low intensity workout.
Pilates
Pilates will give you a healthy body and a healthy mind.
It is a body conditioning class that will sculpt your muscles, improve your posture and flexibility and reduce stress levels.
If you are looking to tone up, in a low impact, relaxing environment, this is the class for you.
We will provide all equipment used in the class, but if you would like to bring your own mat feel free.
This session lasts for 60 minutes and is a low intensity workout. Please remove your shoes before starting this session.
Stretch and Tone
This group exercise class is designed to lengthen and strengthen the entire body.
You will move through a sequence of stretches that will focus on your stomach, back and bum helping with posture, and strengthening your muscles.
This session will run as either a 45-minute session or a 60-minute session and is a low intensity workout.

Our exercise classes are very popular, we advise booking in advance.

You can book onto classes:
- ten days in advance if you have a monthly membership
- seven days in advance if you have an ourChelmsford Plus card
- two days in advance if you have an ourChelmsford Lite card
- You will need to book a session in advance to guarantee your space.
- If you do not check-in, we will charge you the full amount for the session.
- Please make sure that you have registered your email address with us in order to book online.
- If you can't attend a class that you have booked onto, you must cancel at least two hours before it starts.
- You can cancel online or via the app, by calling 01245 605666 or in person.
- We will charge you the full amount for the class if you do not cancel in time, or if you do not attend.
- You will not be allowed entrance to the class if it has already been running for five minutes or more.
- To allow time for changeovers, classes will finish five minutes before the advertised time.
- If you want to use a locker, you can either use a £1 coin to release the key, a trolley token, or exchange the value of £1 for a £1 token at reception. This money will be returned to you when you return the token.
- There is a male group changing area and a female group changing area.
- Accessible changing is available.
