We offer a range of different athletics sports schools to suit you.

Our multi-skills athletics sessions cover the six fundamentals of athletics training: strength, power, coordination, flexibility, balance and agility.

Children also learn the key skills needed in running (sprints, sprint starts, hurdles, relays, endurance running) jumping (long jump, triple jump, high jump) and throwing (shot put, javelin, discus). Our fully qualified instructor will help children improve their athletics skills in these fun sessions.

Days and times

  • Tuesdays (term time only), 4.15pm to 5pm

  • £42 for seven weeks

The club runs every Saturday during term time. Try a variety of athletics events at each session in a fun and safe atmosphere with qualified coaches. This is a fun introduction to athletics and operates on a pay as you go basis.

Run in partnership with Chelmsford Athletic Club, for children aged 6 to 12. We give children coaching in a wide range of track and field events with our qualified coaches, whilst being introduced to club atmosphere and competitions.

Days and times

  • Ages 6 to 9: Wednesdays, 5pm to 6pm
  • Ages 9 to 11: Tuesdays, 5pm to 6pm
  • Ages 9 to 12: Wednesdays, 6.15pm to 7.15pm

  • £44.10 per term (prices vary depending on term length)

In our Junior Running Club sessions for School Years 3 to 8, our experienced coaches will help to improve your child’s stamina, speed and overall fitness levels, plus other benefits.

  • Thursdays, 4.45pm to 5.45pm

At our advanced athletics academy, our experienced coaches will help improve your child's key athletics skills.

Children will learn plyometrics and the technical skills of running, jumping and throwing in different athletics disciplines on our indoor and outdoor athletics track. Sessions will enhance their athletics development and help prepare them for club and school athletics. 

Days and times

  • Fridays, 5pm to 6.30pm

Prices

  • ourChelmsford Lite cardholders: £7.30 per session
  • ourChelmsford Plus cardholders: £6.00 per session

  • Courses are held on our indoor athletics track except for our Cross Country Development which is held on our outdoor athletics track.
  • Please ensure you read our pre-course information before booking and attending the course.

Before you arrive

  • All courses must be booked and paid for in advance using your child's ourChelmsford card
  • If your child does not have an ourChelmsford card, you will need to apply for one before you can book a session.
  • If you have not booked and paid for a session online, you will not be able to attend.

Drop off

  • Please arrive 10 minutes before your child's course is due to start.
  • There will be a designated drop off zone. Please make your way to the drop off zone when you first arrive at any of our courses, where you'll need to register your child and sign them in.
  • Our course team will ask you to provide a password and emergency contact number. They'll also ask whether your child has any medical conditions, allergies or are taking medication.
  • We will then issue you with a wristband which you will need to put on your child.

During the course

  • Please ensure children wear suitable sports clothing and trainers. Children can bring 6mm spike training shoes if they already have them and know how to use them properly.
  • Please ensure your child has a water bottle and enough water with them for the duration of their course. 

Collection

  • You must collect your child from the designated collection zone; this is at the gate to the running track, to the right hand side of the main entrance. 
  • You should make sure that whoever is collecting your child is aware of the password you provided at registration. We cannot send a child home with anyone who doesn't know this.
  • If you think you might be late, please let us know as soon as possible.
