Blue plaques, information boards and public art

We started installing blue plaques in 1986 and now have nearly 40 across Chelmsford and the surrounding area. They honour famous people and events associated with the area.

We also have a number of historical information boards dotted around the area, which go into more depth about local history.

We secure public art as part of new developments, and have many interesting works, which relate to their setting, across the district.

Historical information boards in Chelmsford To mark important sites around Chelmsford that have shaped its history, we have installed a series of information boards.
