Cultural Strategy for Chelmsford

The vision for the next 10 years is to celebrate Chelmsford as a culturally ambitious place. We want a city that connects our innovative science and engineering heritage with a vibrant future of wellbeing, environment and creativity, transforming our peoples’ lives.  

By coming together, we can build on Chelmsford’s rich and innovative heritage. We can transform our city, by investing in a vision that recognises the value of culture to us all. Our inclusive, vibrant, connected district will be a healthier, happier and prosperous place.

The charity Culture Chelmsford, an independent body, commissioned the strategy in 2023. It is for everyone living, working, studying and visiting Chelmsford. It covers the entire district, including the city centre, South Woodham Ferrers and our parishes.  

It will set our priorities for improving our culture services and the lives of residents, helping us to make Chelmsford fairer, greener, safer and better-connected.
