Sport For Confidence is a unique and pioneering programme that helps you take part in sport or physical activity, no matter who you are or what barriers you might face. 

The sessions are delivered by qualified coaches, who work with occupational therapists, and are suitable for people who have:

  • learning disabilities
  • mental health issues
  • dementia
  • autism
  • a physical impairment or disability 
  • other complex health needs 

There are many benefits to being active. It can improve your physical and mental health and bring social benefits. 

In addition, Sport For Confidence sessions can develop life-changing skills such as: 

  • self-confidence
  • independence
  • the ability to perform daily tasks 
  • interaction with others 

Everyone can enjoy the sessions. You don’t need any previous experience and the emphasis is always on having fun!

Wednesdays 

  • 12pm to 1pm: Swimming, main pool
  • 2pm to 3pm: Basketball, sports hall

Fridays

  • 11.10am to 11.55am: Introduction to exercise session
  • 12pm to 1pm: Boccia, sports hall
  • 2pm to 3pm: Multi-sports, sports hall

Sundays

  • 5.15pm to 6.15pm: Swimming, main pool

Our sessions do not run on Bank Holidays or Bank Holiday weekends.

  • All sessions must be booked in advance by contacting Megan Potts, our occupational therapist. This is to make sure we can run sessions safely and make reasonable adjustments to ensure your needs are met.
  • Sessions are allocated on a first come, first served basis.  
  • You should be outside the centre 10 minutes before the start of your session. Details of where to meet will be provided when you book.

Price

  • £3.50 per session, which can be paid on the day.
