Your Council Tax account number is an eight-digit number that starts with an eight.

We will only issue you with an account number after you have told us you are moving into a property.

You can find your account number:

  • on your paper bill, on the right-hand side (as shown below)
  • on any other letters we send to you about your account, on the left-hand side
  • on your bank statement, if you pay by Direct Debit or standing order
  • by signing in to your existing online Council Tax account

You can also contact us to request your account number. We will post a paper copy of your bill to the property address.

Your Council Tax account number is an important piece of personal data. We use it as part of our security checks to verify your identity.

If you can’t give us your account number, we may not be able to discuss your account with you if you call us.
