Planning permission for electric vehicle charging
You need planning permission for an external electrical vehicle charging point if it:
- exceeds 0.2 cubic metres
- faces onto and is within 2m of a highway
- is within a site designated as a Scheduled Monument
- is within the curtilage of a listed building
You need planning permission for an upstand with an electric vehicle charging point if it:
- exceeds 2.3m in height from the level of the parking surface, or 1.6m within the curtilage of a dwelling house of block of flats
- is within 2m of a highway
- is within a site designed as a Scheduled Monument
- is within the curtilage of a Listed Building
- results in more that one update per parking space
